Green Baxter Court joined Community Action Network in 2002 – one of the Ann Arbor Housing Commission public housing communities. GBC is located in North Ann Arbor, and houses 23 families.




Educating Children & Youth
Free 6-week Educational Summer Camp designed to prevent summer learning loss
Free After School Program that provides homework & reading support, enrichment activities, social-emotional development, snack, and more
CAN Art & Design program in which students develop creative skillsets to inquire, design, build, and connect with their broader community
School-Family Liaison Services

Stabilizing Families
Holiday gift support (for select families)
Utility shut-off and eviction prevention for GBC residents
Referrals to additional Washtenaw County resources
Free food is provided to the children & youth attending GBC's After School and Summer Programs
Emergency food pantry available when the community center is open for GBC residents
Bi-weekly food distributions for GBC residents
Order form includes live pantry stock inventory

Building Community
CAN hosts regular holiday and community parties/events
Relationship-building between teachers, CAN staff, and CAN families
Conflict-resolution between community members
Partners with Ann Arbor Police Department to promote positive relationships between police and community members
Boasts a lovely, well-tended community garden
